North Korea acknowledges it has nuclear weapons -

North Korea's government publicly acknowledged for the first time Thursday that it has nuclear arms, and said it is suspending participation in six-country talks aimed at getting it to abandon its nuclear ambitions.

Now there's a surprise..... :)

Scary part is that the North Korean government leaders are just goofy enough to use them. Well....the northern end of Korea would look better as a parking lot anyhow.... :)

Just what the world needs. I think they need a "red sky at night" and not JB's version.

Now the big question is where do we go from here? sanctions don't work, too many cheaters,i can assure you that Iran will be the next nuke-armed country if something is not done by us or israel from a military perspective.
Almost every country on this planet have the knowledge to make nukes, aquiring the hardware to manufacture the components is the thin barrier that at present is the only delaying factor available, and that's all it is a delaying factor.

The most important thing about this is that they do not proliferate.

They want these weapons as leverage. They know they are contained and they feel this is the leverage they need to be a power in the world, which they won't be.

If they use them, they know they are toast. From many directions.

I say blockade them so they cannot spread the weapons..

Re: Breaking News

i'll agree with what stern was saying this morning. you have two choices- isolate them with economic sanctions and such (which we've tried and it's not working) or accept them and try to find common grounds to work from (trade and commerce). we need to establish diplomatic relations and then slowly build an understanding. no one wants to use nuclear weapons, but when they are not accepted they don't see a point in putting them down.

Appeasment never makes for a better situation, history has proven that.

It is time to stop giving them oil and bread. As far as I know you cannot eat atom bombs, nor can you heat your house with them.
Anyway, China is really the one that worries about this,at least we have our arrow anti missile system that by now has proven that it works.

Ignore them, but let them know they are targeted at all times. And they are too. If they deploy them, ours will incinerate them before thiers incinerate us. MAD all over again (or still).

What 12 Footer said.

It's the same tired old trick. When they can't get their unreasonable demands in talks they always up the ante by talking about their claimed nuclear capacity. The West falls for it every time.
