I am a bit stranded here. My audio alarm went off intermittantly. I found the stern drive lube was low on one side so I added some. It is still sounding. I am surprised that it sounds with either or both engines running. I am afraid to drive it. Is it possible it may have air in the line that got in while it was low? And would that cause it? And why the alarm on either or both motors? Please help if you can.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard Bob,.... You've only gotta ask the question Once,...
As soon as somebody With the answer comes by,... It'll be Answered...

Unfortunately,.... I'm not the 1,... Those alarms Beep for various reasons, besides the drive lube...

It could be as simple as corrosion in the wiring to the sensors,... Donno...

Good Luck...

Btw,... What motors,..?? Got any serial #s,..??

thanks, I'm new here and a little desperate for help. The engines are 4.3l mpi 220hpx2, not sure on serial numbers but could probably get them if it's needed.

You have bravo 3s with 4.3 v6:confused: what size boat do you have, Just curious. The only way to know why your alarm is going off is to hook up a scan tool and either read the history of the engine or in some cases, Be running the engine while it is happing with the scaner hooked up. Here is a list of a few things that could sound the alarm.Good luck with it. Constant tone alarms are for:
1.) engine coolant temp overheat,
2.) low engine oil pressure,
3.) engine overspeed,
4.) exhaust manifold cooling temp overheat
5.) sea pump PSI low FYI This is kind of commen, And is said to not show up in the history. The only way to know is to watch this sensor live as it happens. Make sure all you grounds are tight on and around the engine. And if this sensor has any paint on it it could be loosing it's ground and sounding the alarm.Or you could have picked up some air bubbels for a short time till you slowed down, Or the impeller, or impeller housing is starting to fail. This is Just a thought of what could be happening is all.Good luck with it.

Constant beep alarms are for:
1.) low outdrive lube level.

Two Alarm beeps every 60 seconds are for:
1.) Faulty cam,
2.) IAC,
3.) MAP,
4.) MAT,
5.) knock sensors.
6.) open/short in the engine cooling temp circuit
7.) open/short in fuel injector wiring circuit,
8.) open/short in oil PSI circuit,
9.) open/short in exhaust manifold cooling temp circuit,
10.) open/short in sea pump circuit,
11.) open/short in throttle position circuit
