Bravo III Props will not spin in forward or reverse

I have a 2006 Nautic Star 230 Sport Deck. The boat is equipped with a Merc 350 Mag MPI and Bravo III outdrive. I was on the lake this past holiday weekend and after a round of tubing I was at idle picking up kids that had fallen off and my props quit spinning. I did not hear any strange noises nor did I smell any rubber burning. After inspecting the exterior of the outdrive and props, no obious damage. As I trimmed the outdrive up and put the boat in drive, it sounds as if something is free spinning but very little noise coming from it. With the boat in neutral the props did move freely with no obvious clanking or grinding noises. Any ideas as to my problem would be greatful.
