Re: Bravo 5 outdrive, any info???

I asked the question to the seller and here is his response,
"The Bravo 5 Leg is a Special Series Leg that is produced by Mercury mainly for Race Boat due to its Strength, the current series is the 6 Series which has recently been superseeded by the 7, all are highly expensive product, an example is the recent prices early this year was in excess of $46,000 for the 6 Series."
The boat is a Rinker Fiesta V 265 with the supposed upgrade to 454 and Bravo 5??
Unfortunately have to wait 4 weeks before i can get a look but if it turns out to be a "Bravo 5" or something else out of the ordinary i will post some pics, serial no's etc.
cheers

kitacooch, everyone's B.S. meters have been pegged since you started this thread. And now they all just jumped off the scale. NO SUCH THING AS A BRAVO 5. And even if there was it WOULDN'T BE ON A RINKER FIESTA V 265. The guy is fooling you. Either you're crazy or he is.

Re: Bravo 5 outdrive, any info???

Let me try some simple math here

Bravo 2 upper
+ Bravo 3 lower
_____________
= Bravo 5 outdrive

Yea, that should work for a seller ....................... NOT!

Don, my dad had two such combos on his Chap Sig 30. Does that mean he had a Bravo 10?!!!! You crack me up sometimes, when you are being funny.

Rodbolt, I tried to make a joke earlier with the Continuem Transfunctioner reference, but I just could not be funny any longer. This guy is either a troll or just needs attention on the 'net.

OK jokes aside, contrary to some peoples opinions this is not a cheap grab for attention, i would infact like to get to the bottom of this, i have again spoken with the seller and he insists black and blue his clam about the Bravo 5 but be bugged if i can find anything on the net, he has given me the Vin # of the boat and suggested i contact Rinker direct as was factory fitted. The damn leg is inside a shipping container somewhere on the ocean and won't arrive on shore for a couple weeks. I will view the hull next week as it arrives in next couple days.
In the mean time if someone knows the best way to find the info from Rinker some insight would be much appreciated, otherwise will do some more searching later.
cheers

Now that the jokes are outta the way,

At 3000 RPM, my 454/Bravo III powered 21' FourWinns runs 30 mph and burns 10 gal/hr at that speed....... At 45 MPH it shows about 15 gph on my Lowrance LMF-200
erez

If yours has a single prop drive it may burn slightly more....

Thanks for that, much appreciated, i had no idea at all as my boating experiences to date have been with 16ft tinnies and half cabs, not to mention that since my last boat i now have a wife and 4 kids 7 and under hence the type of boat i am now going for.
The mysterious leg i have a pic of but havn't woked out how to post unfortunately has a single prop not the duo as the boat is a 94/95 mod.

Resize your pic to 640 X 400. Then, when posting to the thread, click on the paperclip at the top of the 'reply to thread window.' A window will pop up. Click on the 'browse' button for your computer. Find the pic that you resized, click on it and 'open.' The top window should disappear and then you click on the 'upload' button next to the 'browse' button you clicked on earlier. When it uploads, then hit the 'close this window' button. Then finish your reply and post it. The pic will be attached.

Does the drive also have a transmission inside the boat?

If you head over to the Non-Boating Technical Topic forum, there are 3 stickies at the top of the forum on how to post pictures.

Re: Bravo 5 outdrive, any info???

The guy is confused. Here are ways to confuse one's self and throw a "5" into a convo about a Bravo drive:

It's a Bravo, Standard. Maybe it's on a dealer sheet and he confused the "S" for a 5 and thinks it is a Bravo 5.

It might be a 1.5 gear, and he confuses that somehow.

To confuse Roman Numerals, he'd have to have an X drive and think the X was a Roman Numeral for 5 (when it is 10).

I can't think of other ways to get a "5" into a conversation about a Bravo drive.

Is the "seller" a "dealer" (as in wheeler-dealer?)

It appears that he/she is desperately trying to "sell" you!

Your picture is not very good. The drive is in the shade, it's too far from the camera to see well, and it's low res. (phone cam?)

If you want to get a good picture, wait until around 1600 or so and have the sun to your back and get closer with a decent camera. Use flash if necessary.

If that drive is the "heavy-duty" drive, I suppose it could be a Bravo II. .........from the picture, it looks like a B1.

The serial number should be on the side. If it's not, it may have been rebuilt/replaced via "Midnight Marine Service" .......... the Bravo II will fit on that gimbal .......Bravo II's are common on big boats............ http://www.sterndrives.com/precisionparts/414bravotwo.html

Any Bravo drive would work good on that boat and a Bravo III would perform the best IMHO.....

Re: Bravo 5 outdrive, any info???

Saw a boat at our lake with two outdrives like that. The props looked like razor blades, most insane thing Ive seen on our lake. The boat was around 40-45 feet long and I bet it took 5 minutes to get up to speed. Once it did it was skipping across our lake at some crazy speeds, had to be doing over 70mph. It had OUTER LIMITS written really big on the side of it. Sounded like a nascar car flying across the lake.

If it was an Outer Limits boat, he was capable of much more than 70mph. Hell, I don't even think they make a boat with less than 1000HP combined from twin screws. ;)

It probably was, pretty sure it covered the entire lake(its not a HUGE lake) in under 10 minutes, it just kept going back and forth. Thing had a rooster tail coming out of the back of over a hundred feet long. Probably used more gas in 30 minutes than I use all summer.
