Bravo 3 anode help please

I bought a 1999 Searay 260 Sundancer
It lived its life in the marina
I just pulled it out and got it home
I'm refinishing the outdrive and noticed the zincs are all but gone
I believe there is supposed to be two circular disk ones above the props
I see the obvious remnants of one which I believe I can remove by removing the bolt, but there is another similar looking disk thing that I believe is a second anode but there is no bolt that I can tell
I see where there is a threaded hole in the center with maybe a boilt broken off inside, is that indeed what I'm looking at?
I need to know before I go tearing into it
Here's a couple pics
Thanks!

Re: Bravo 3 anode help please

yes . . . two disks

Thanks
On the one with the rough grey looking material, is that an anode that is wasting away?
The hole in the center has only a few threads showing, do you think there is a bolt broken off inside?

If it is an anode, how would I remove it?

Re: Bravo 3 anode help please

one anode bolts from the top and the other bolts from the bottom . . .

The one with the few theads exposed bolts from the top and looks fine. The other one is the one that bolts from the bottom and is mostly missing.

I was about to drill out the bolt and take a chisel to it lol

If you are planning to keep it in the water also, make sure you get the correct material anodes. (Magnesium is for "Freshwater Use Only")

Also, if it doesn't have it, and you are planning to keep it in the water, get the "propnut anode". It'll probably require a different propnut (not "cheap") but you need/want all the corrosion protection you can get on a B3.

What does the rear bearing carrier look like?

There should be a plug on the top of the drive to remove the one anode. It will look like a plastic cap

That's not to say that other metals can't be used in fresh-water.

Most manufacturers recommend Aluminium anode in both fresh- and sea-water....

Correct. That was more of a warning that if you put Magnesium on a boat that's going in saltwater, they will eat away VERY quickly.

However, the manufacturer of black outdrives doesn't use the term "aluminium". It's aluminum. ;) :)

Where is the rear bearing carrier?

There is a prop anode that is still semi ok, there is an anode on the back side of the outdrive which is mostly gone

The boat is used in salt water

Also there is a fluid leak on one of the right side hydraulic tilt lines (the one that doesn't unscrew from the outdrive), it's leaking near the outdrive where the small tube comes out if the hose

I have already replaced the exhaust risers and manifolds... talk about a pain in the ***, I had to break them off and easy out almost every bolt. I replaced them with stainless

The boat runs perfect and is immaculate inside, I got it for almost nothing because of the exhaust manifold issue

Re: Bravo 3 anode help please

It sounds like you have the bravo 3 with the enhanced anodes . . 2 discs over the props on the vent plate and the prop nut anode, plus the forward anode.

if you are going to be in salt seasonally, then replace all of the anodes, and plan on replacing them every year, if not more.

Most of the 'Aluminum' used for those anodes comes from Australia, where it's called 'Aluminium' ;)

But once it passes over the International Dateline, it transforms into Aluminum! ;)

Rear bearing carrier can be seen by removing the props (HUGE socket needed for the forward propnut). You don't want it to look like this, or at least any worse than this:

Yes, but only in Ama-reeka...

from a google search...
The name for the metal is aluminum in the United States and aluminium in the rest of the world.

Could you two possibly stay on topic, if you want to argue about such petty things, use the PM function.
You sound lake a couple little 10 year old kids arguing about who's dad can beat up the others.

We weren't arguing, we were joking with each other. No apology necessary.

And as I am sure you read, I did stay on topic.
