Donzi lxc 255. 5.7 Efi Bravo 1
On the weekend, took my boat out. Cruising was ok, till about 2500 rpm. Had a hard time getting on plane. Actually it wouldn't at all. Revs would climb up to 5000rpm, as if a clutch was slipping on a car. Prop would barely spin. I though spun prop Hub...
So I brought it back to the marina, swapped props to a known good one, and went back out. Same thing!
So I cruised the river for 30 min till I got to the lake. once there,mI played with the trim and finally got on plane. Power was back, all was good. Everything was great till the end of the day. On my way home, I started 'cavitating' again. This time there were some odd noises as well. Not growling. But like something was loose. i lowered the throttle, noise went away. Raised throttle again, no noise... I limped back to the ramp, took the boat out of the water. And headed home.
Today, I took the drive off to inspect.
Btw, This is a rebuilt drive and engine. Place I bought it from installed it before I bought the boat.
Gear oil is perfect!
Prop is perfect and brand new.
No play in driveline. All looks ok. U joints etc all greased and new.
Next is to remove gimbal housing and inspect gimble and coupler.
One thing I didn't check is the gear cable adjustment.
I did find a loose triangular shim in the drive case where the UJ are..not sure where it came from....
What do u guys think?
