Re: Braided Line

fireline will be the grey, usually "fuzzy" looking of the 2.
I did just think of one application I don't like the braids...thats in sub-zero weather. The braids carry more water up the line and creates an "Ice-cube" at the tip, much worse than mono, and slowly builds Ice in the guides on down...very troublesome during early-season walleye fishing if you are casting..

Re: Braided Line

Snowshoe, I use the 10lb for walleye and crappie jigging, but your waters are crystal-clear. The problem I have with 4lb. is I can't pull an 1/8 or 1/4oz. jighead with gold hooks out of the trees in deeper water, with the 10lb., it will straighten the hook 9 of 10 times.
I'm still making my 'rigs out of 14lb. Fireline...you say you went back to mono...why, may I ask???

Barlow your killn me here..Sounds like one of those politicians who keep changing there minds...

Curious KM2 what fin do you chase the most..See your from Minn.. What part? What I have seen here is that the braided stuff is used mostly by folks fishn for the smaller fins..Could the reels have anything to do with anything..I use some pretty big haulers here and am just curious..

I am just not sold on this braided line theory yet..Give me time and I am sure Barlow will confuse me even more..Ok I admit it,I like the purty colors they come in..

really I like only because I can put alot more Yardage on when rigging my 6500s..

Re: Braided Line

Mostly a bass and walleye fisherman. I'm not slugging big lures all day chasing Muskies so I'm sure that factors in to my liking of braided line. \
Another benefit I didn't mention before is the braided stuff seems to hold up better when I get one of the toothy critters on my line. (Northerns) FYI: I'm also using 8lb to 10lb mono and 20lb braided.

Kevin
