I watched the debates, dd. I could have turned the sound off and it still would have been obvious who was the more mature and in control of himself of the two. W's body language and tone and demeanor is the most arrogant and condescending that i've ever seen in a president, or any other politician for that matter. But obviously, those kinds of considerations are not that important to most americans. Here again we disagree, woodrat. I'll also give Kerry credit for being a more polished speaker than Bush. But you are certainly entitled to your opinion. -dd-

By a sound majority, Mark. They have spoken loudly. I'm not gloating (I promissed someone I wouldn't). But that is the entire story. And unlike 60minutes, it's just the facts.

He conceded quickly because he had no legal recourse. He conceded because he had to. His own party's leagal staff and advisors informed him of the situation, and he followed thier advice. It's what loosers in elections DO, and allways have done, unless the election was close enough to be possibly swayed by re-counts, or some other sculduggery. I know you haven't seen many elections, but if you are using Gore's conduct as a barometer of how a looser (even a liberal looser) should act, you are sorely misguided. I'm trying not to rub salt in your wounds here, Mark. But really, you need to get over this anger phase,and try to find some unity with your countrymen. Ah quit the ruckus. It is finally over. We all should be proud. This election brought record numbers out to vote. The most in history ever. Of course common sense says it should since our population keeps increasing. DUH? IMHO, this country is united, we may not have been united on who would be president, but as citizens we all supported our election process. I don't hold nothing againt anyone for their thoughts who should have won. That is our choice given to us by our freedom. Thanks to those that have fought, died, and become handicapped for the protection of our freedom.....God Bless them ALL!

12 footer, unless you are psychic, you have no idea how many elections I have seen. are you assuming that i am in my twenties or something because i didn't vote for bush? I recall at least a couple of comments on this forum referring to possible civil unrest if kerry were to win, is that how conservative losers act? Maybe my comment that kerry "proved" he was more mature by concedeing was off the mark, but I think he had already proved that long before elction day anyway. Believe me, I am not surprised about the results of this election, nor am i "angry". I just think that it was a really bad choice, but given the alternative, well who would be surprised. BTW, when an election is close enough to require a recount, that same recount is not "skulduggery". Repubs would have been standing on the rooftops screaming for a recount if your boy W was narrowly bumped off his throne. All this nonsense about "uniting" though is pretty ridiculous. I am supposed to unite with those who have called me a socialist and a nazi and a traitor because I didn't support the same yahoo that they did? The same people that threatened civil war if the election went the "wrong" way? har har har! I've seen how well dissenting viewpoints are tolerated by the right wingers. I've seen it for many, many years in fact. I'm not personally upset with any particular individuals, and I do appreciate that you have made an effort to keep corresponding in a realtively civl tone 12, but we obviously have pretty radically different worldviews, and I have seen pretty clearly that worldviews like mine are not particularly welcome or repsected here or in many other places.

Woodrat, I know you are referring to comments I made about civil unrest, and you are taking them entirely out of context. I never, ever said anything about civil unrest contingent on nothing more than a Kerry victory, and you know it. I demand that you cease and desist.

Mutual appreciation, Mark. And you allways will have my respect as well. We come here, and we continually debate. But we both know that's what everyone else who lives in America does in many forms and mediums. But you're not only respected and welcomed, you are NEEDED, because extremism in iether direction is fatal to a republic. And just like Cohlms (sp, of "hanity n Cohlms"), you have the more dificult task here. You're outnumbered, yet you perservere. I know you are a pretty stuburn on the issues we face together. So am I. Don't quit trying to change my mind, and I won't give up on you iether.

Your implication was that a kerry victory would necessarily be had by cheating and intimidation and that that would ignite civil unrest. And you weren't the only one to say that either.

and for that, I am extremely thankful, even though i strongly disagree with the outcome. I was not looking forward to two months of strife over this, contrary to what many people seemed to assume about those who opposed bush.
