For somebody that doesn't know what they are doing, you are making this look easy! Very nice, can't wait to see it finished up and to find out how well it works for him...

Re: Bow Thruster

I've been lurking in the shadows, watching you put holes in the bow of this boat!!!! I've been wondering what the outcome was going to look like and if you would be able to pull it off, especially with the strake being located in the middle of the thruster hole etc.. If I had a Glass shop and you were applying for a job and you brought the picture from post #26 into my shop as a sample of your work... I'd hire you on the spot!!!! Well Done!!!!!

Re: Bow Thruster

Thanks wood I appreciate that. I had asked if antifouling paint over the outside peanut butter would be sufficient But never got a answer . if anyone knows the answer I would appreciate it. It has a small leak coming into the area about 4 oz in 2 hours so I am going to start grinding where it seems to be coming in just to make sure

Re: Bow Thruster

You ground off all the AF paint and applied pb and glass to the repaired area and then recoated with AF paint correct? If it's leaking it's NOT because of the Paint. There has to be a void in the glass repepair some place. You can some times use some red water based paint in the water and see where its coming in.

Re: Bow Thruster

I ground to the original glass then repaired yes ok just wanted to make sure it wasn't a easy fix haha. I ran out of time today to ck real well but its either a void in the glass or the gasket around the thruster itself. will update tomorrow thank you

Re: Bow Thruster

Well done!...you can leave the raw glass, but you should use a barrier coat made for your antifoul paint regardless whether u used epoxy or poly. But like Woddy said, its not ur leak problem. Once its launched, your prolly experiencing stress from the rigid tube to the flex hull...keep filling and working it, it will become solid.

If u used poly, you can mix some gel past, and skim the area, sand it smooth, then apply the barrier coat and paint, if epoxy, just the barrier coat, and paint...if you used interlux, interprotect would be wise, most epoxy primers will seal it too..

Re: Bow Thruster

Well I went and took a look and it seems it might be the thruster gasket leaking. It only seems to leak when thruster is used We are going to pull boat out of the water tomorrow or fri will update
