Yeah the noodles will start to disintegrate if ya leave em in the pool with all the chlorine and uv rays . But under a deck or gunwale cap I think they would last pretty much for ever .. And with my extensive laboratory testing 3 strategically placed noodles under my neck waist and knees will float my previously 250 some odd lbs body rather nicely ... :D

remember, even at a big box/chain store you can negotiate - even if already marked down.

I quite enjoy it especially when they say no then I came back in two weeks and they say yes, to less money.

Yep...we're a bunch of bottom feeders. At any rate, my boat now has much more flotation than when it was manufactured by Starcraft! :tea:

This is one of those threads where 10% of the people are serious about the topic and 90% are not. :spy:

YEP, absolutely!
And as suplemental flotation, noodles might fit, but not ideal as the primary, or for sure not as the only.

If you do a search, the Noodle Debate has been discussed to death, with tests and formulas and about everything you can imagine. To me it makes sense to use the sheets if & where you can, then add what you can to the leftover spaces. Gives you that confident, noodly feeling out on the water.

I think it's Bondo that has a quote in his sig line something to the effect that 'any oil is better than no oil'

I would argue the same can be said about floatation

The pour in foam isn't the problem, just like it isn't the plywood that's at fault when an old boat's transom & stringers become waterlogged & rotten.

Like LL says, If you care for and Maintain your boat properly, it really don't matter much what you use. I'm totally in agreement with that. All the work all of us have done is due to poor care and maintenance. If everyone took care of their boats the way they should, we'd all be on the water enjoying them instead of tearing into them and doing all this crappy work all the time. Of course we'd be broke cuz they'd be a LOT more expensive to buy!!!!

you realize that holding your breath alone will float your 250 some odd lb body without the noodles. your body is slightly less dense than the water supporting you (985kg/m^3 vs 1020kg/m^3 for salt water and 999kg/m^3 for fresh water), so the noodles are truly only supporting about 10# with that extensive laboratory testing.

Hey... I'll trade ya a bag of pink peanuts, 5 pingpong balls, 2 empty pepsi bottles for 2 noodles...What ya say?

Can ya spare a noodle?

Maybe....for 1 of the 29-centers, and half a 49-center? Now you all know what I'm going to be thinking about next time I boil noodles. I wonder what they taste like, I never saw that adressed here.
