This is the time of year to buy your flotation!

I just scored several of the big, fat $5 pool noodles for 49 cents each, & they had the thinner ones for 29 cents. The stores are itching to get rid of them now.

:D  :highly_amused: :whoo:

Did you score this from a local store or a big box chain?

I found if you put them in a blender you can fit more of them in the hull. true story! ;)

Why use noodles? They cant be better or cheaper than just using pink foam board.

They're cheaper when you can get them for less than $1 each, and you can cram them into odd-shapped places. I used the pink sheets under the floor and the area under the bow, then filled in the leftover spaces with noodles. Boats don't have very many square places.

All this talking about Noodles is Making me want Thanksgiving to Hurry up and get here!!!! And yes, Noodles at less than a buck a piece are cheaper than the Slab foam. and they work just as well at floatin' things. And I like all the purdy colors too!!!!

While they might be easier to use, I doubt they provide more floatation per $. 1.5" foam board is less than $20.

My quick calculation says you will need about 70 noodles to equal one 4x8 sheet of 1.5" foam board.

Do they work or don't they?
Not really interested in your calculations because space access is primarily the issue. So what 70 noodles? With gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberries...give me a break.
During a rehab boats have different areas to access whether its tin/wood.
Some areas to access may just be just too hard to place pink foam in while renovating. I personally like the pink foam boards and in use with expanding foam. Noodles whatever they are called may be a solution to tough spots and related applications.

the pool noodles in my pool eventually disintigrate and end up in the pool filter. I myself like the good-ole 2-part foam mix.

the easiest and best solution is always the one that people think is too expensive. and in the long run, it is also the cheapest

I think they'll last long enough---mine are never in the sun, and with any luck, never wet!

Trying to provide a little objective data for people that think they are a cheaper solution than foam board. You also need 70% more noodles to equal foam board flotation capacity, so it may not even be easier. Noodles 2.25pcf and foam board is 1.3pcf I believe.
