I've said it before and I'll say it again....there's nothing wrong with sitting in your driveway/shed/garage and just staring at it for hours!

When two footitus IE the need for a bigger boat sets in, just go way bigger the first time it will save you a ton of money. The last stage is a houseboat so you can just live where you play. This is a very contagious disease. Thankfully my wife caught it to so we are still married, but she wants more boats than I do> Is this normal?

this is my second boat, my first boat was a 2655 bayliner ciera sunbridge that i never got to splash. bought it before the housing market crash, and made a better income as a seasoned land surveyor. now i start at the bottom as a automotive tech:( anyhow i got laid off and lost my home could not afford to move the bayliner, no one would buy it not sure what the new home owners did with it . never again will i get something that can not be trailered without a big hydrolic trailer and wide load permit at $500 a pop. i been lookin at other runabouts and small outboards that use less gas maybe a tinny or one with a hardtop or a small jonboat to take to smaller rivers places where electric motors are required;) oh and i have looked at houseboats and the wife is keen but she has an upside down mortage and we can't take the loss and if i get one we will live in it. maybe 52'

you are not alone....

most everyone has an addiction. explain to the wife and friends, at least your addition is not porn, drugs, chasing women...

that's what i splained to my wife...i don't smoke, i don't run around, i don't sit and watch sports all day, i don't play cards, i don't go drinkin' with the boys, i don't go to strip clubs, i don't surf for porn...i am home. i am working on my boat. i am here when you need me. i do my chores. i make good money.

none of it convinces her.

I beg to differ. Right now I have about 18 rods in my garage waiting for summer so I can use them. I also have three tackel boxes, including an outfitter box and 2 Plano 3 tier boxes also waiting to be used. I have built a "compst pile" so its easier tofind worms for trout fishing. Good thing the wife also likes fishing.

The ONLY thing worse is when you build your own boat.... Mine is a 18'6" Micro Trawler. I just re-did my grandpa's 1956 Larson fishing boat, and now I have a 17' Alumacraft Queen Merrie in the back yard.....

The 12 step program kicked me out when that one came home with me:facepalm: but my wife didn't!
Enjoy them, with your friends.
And remember, Normal is just a setting on the dryer.

I am so happy I have never had to say this in a sentence about going fishing. :p

You make it sound like a bad thing!

My wife snuck some video of me sitting in my boat making motor noises while it was in the garage.

Diff between iboats and AAA is that nobody on iboats is trying to help you 'kick it.' We're more like enablers and co-dependents!

Right before I met my buddy he had 50, something boats. His wife threatened to divorse him because he spent almost all of their money
on boats. He was down to 37, when he went to serve again over seas. He has a PHD, and boat disease - if he sees a boat on the side of the road for sale, he will stop, and look at it. He has driven to Fla to pickup boats that wern't worth hooking them up to a trailer. I can't explain it - it is an addiction!
