Idle passages in the carb are dirty, not flowing the proper amount of fuel.

Cold, the electric choke is cool and on, warming rapidly once the motor is started. Once the choke has opened your poor idle problem appears.

Babying the throttle in order to accelerate is often a sign that the accelerator pump may not be squirting the proper volume. An accelerator pump is not always included in the carb rebuilt kit that you will need to properly clean and reset your carb, ensure the pump kit is included, if not order it seperately.

If the boat is new to you, ask the prior owner when was the water pump last rebuilt, if much more than 2 or 3 years, get a water pump kit for the outdrive also.

Thank you CharlieB . . . I'll make that call today, and have a look at ordering that rebuild kit.

I apologize; I realized this morning when I could not find my post in the I/O Forums that I posted in the wrong forum . . .
