i was wondering if anyone has used any sort of spray paint to touch up some stuff on boats below the waterline. i put a coating of this special stuff on the bottom of the boat. i was wondering if there are any cheep good spray paint cans that will look good and hold up to the water. i am painting some parts on the transom and a few places on the sides that will be below the water line. i just don't want the hassle of taking the boat to a painter and paying sooo much for the work. its an older fiberglass boat around 1990 and its very solid, i just don't wanna invest lots of money into a full paint job

Any. Any input will be very helpful

thanks: mike

Re: boat painting

I don't know about spray paints but any good marine polyurethane or epoxy paint will do the job and look like it was done professionally. And they are simple to apply with a roller or brush. You need to make sure the surface is spotless so do a good prep job. Also use good quality rollers or brushes that don't leave bubbles or hairs behind. Don't try to save a buck on these or you will get a crappy looking job. I paint my boat ( a very small boat, but I have helped paint larger boats this way) with polyurethane and it looks great.

Rustoleums Professional 2x will do the job. Wipe it down with acetone first.
