are the batteries connected in parallel?
yes i think so i have to doublecheck that. IF they are parallel connected can that have something to do with my alternator doing low voltage? or it doesnt matter?

Hello all !
i got a question that i wanted answer for along time now but cannot find so i ask here :)
i got 2 batteries on my boat with this https://www.bluesea.com/products/5511e/e-Series_Dual_Circuit_Plus_Battery_Switch circuit breaker..

so my question is when i have it on "ON" does the alternator charge both batteries or just 1 ?

The short answer is just 1 battery in the "ON" position.

The switch is designed to be used with two isolated battery banks with an ACR managing charge distribution from a common charge source while maintaining the isolation between banks.

The switch does not share a common source unless put on "Both" which parallels (combines) both banks defeating the purpose of having isolated battery banks

The battery switch you posted a link to is meant to be used in conjunction with an acr

The acr will sense if the second/house/accessory battery is suffering and the internal relay will engage and provide charging/maintenance to the second battery during engine operation

Yes i got an ACR :) gonna test with multimeter and see the voltages cuz on the gauge its only loading 12,4 volts

Be aware that the ACR only closes (combines batteries) when the primary battery voltage is above 13.5 volts.

A compromised primary battery and or charging system will not charge the house bank.
FWIW....your 12.4V is technically a dead battery

With the engine running at around 1000 rpm the alternator should be providing near to 14.5 volts (+) to the batteries. If not there is an issue with the alternator or the associated curcuit

Be aware that the ACR only closes (combines batteries) when the primary battery voltage is above 13.5 volts.

A compromised primary battery and or charging system will not charge the house bank.
FWIW....your 12.4V is technically a dead battery
Hi ! i send 2 pictures.
battery bank + the acr..
i checked voltage on both batteries when engine off.
Left battery had 12,4 volts and right battery had 12,6 (so full i guess)?
with engine on and 1500 rpm. left battery had 12,7 and right 13.0 volts.
could there be an issue somewhere or is alternator bad?

Look like some healthy corrosion seeping from under the battery post connection weather caps

A good, fully charged battery should be 12.7 volts. Anything less means the battery is in a state of degradation. Technically,
The 12.4 volt battery is dead. Fully charge both batteries with a charger and test again . Better yet have both batteries load tested.

A bad battery will pull an entire charging system down. You first need to determine the status of the batteries to eliminate them as the cause of the problem.

Ahh okey, What if i remove the 12,4 battery and only use the 12,6 should i get full volts then? The 12,4 battery i did load With charger 2 weeks ago

You should....however, if the voltage doesn't rebound, make sure the motor terminal post on the back of the battery switch is clean and shiny.

didnt work same voltage with the other battery so i guess its nopt the batterys. cuz they are only 2 years old and both broken at same time i think not :p how to check if alternator is broken? or worn out

The fact that your batteries are dead says you have a charging problem

Yes i know but if the alternator is bad my batteriet will drain power, ignition fuel pump etc, so must not be the batteries that Are bad?

A good, fully charged battery will test at 12.7 volts at test.

yes i understand but when i charge the batteries with my boat charger it does 14,6 volts to 12,7 fully loaded. but if the alternator is bad it cannot charge properly and the volt will drain? i found a cable though from the vsr the ground (black) but i guess that is only for the seconds battery? the first one should charge full anyway?
maybe i should test to buy a new batt?

That is correct
i found a cable though from the vsr the ground (black) but i guess that is only for the seconds battery?
That wire is the ground for the ACR. It needs to be connected to ground for the system to function properly
the first one should charge full anyway?
maybe i should test to buy a new batt?
1. Remove the charge wire (red) for battery 1 from the ACR.
2. See a lot of corrosion on the positive (red) battery post. Clean both (red and black) battery terminals until they are shiny.
3. Put switch on battery 1 and measure the voltage with the engine off.
4. Then measure the voltage on battery 1 with the engine running.
If your voltage reading less that 13.6 volts your alternator is bad
