Hello all and firstly happy boating
Noticed a recent "new" bad habit of my 5.8 FSi engines (1995 Volvo Penta 5.8 FSi): blowing their automatic fuses (big red buttons on top of engines) when switched off. Requiring re-arming the fuses to restart engines. It happens to both engines.
Anyone had this symptom?
This happens when either the engine is switched off by key or stalled by itself. Each time the fuse needs rearming to be able to restart. There is a cluster of 3 automatic fuses on top of each engine (big red buttons). The one blowing appears to be the 12.5A. According to electrical charts I found on the net it protects the ECM (EEC).
Any suggestion as what on earth may cause a surge that causes that?
My mechanic took a quick look to check for obvious loose or "injured" wire and told me this will cost me the space shuttle program to investigate and resolve... I'd rather drink that amount of money with friends & family lol
Thanks for any leads
