Re: Bleah!

Well, when y'all yamdankees start whining about getting a day of 100+ degrees in August I will remember your compassion.

Ayuh,... Sorry JB,... On the brightside,... Is the stock pond Full yet,..??

Water is water,... Seems you were enduring a Drought a short while ago...

Up here in Snowtown, Ny. We're runnin' alittle short of the white stuff,...
The big stroms are running abit South of us,+ the lake effect machine hasn't been pumping to badly...
I think we're headed for our average of slightly over 200" for this year, so far...

I had to go to Miserable Wells this morning; about 20 miles. The snow in my drive is about 12' and, of course, there is no such thing as a snow plow in these parts so I was driving in slush and snow all the way. Gotta say that the Forester lives up to the Subaru reputation as a snow car in every way. Passed many 2WD vehicles in the ditch, and even a 4WD Suburban.

My feeders are the only ones for my bird buddies within a mile or two and they ran out, so I had to go.

Re: Bleah!

At the start of winter "they" were predicting that we would have a very mild snowfall this year ... less than 35 inches total for the year. We were on our way to that because everything but the late November snow was going north or south of us ... till last week! 30 plus inches in less than a week. Possibly another 10 - 12 coming the beginning of next week. This is what winter is supposed to be like! This is like the winters I remember! Bring on the snow!

Re: Bleah!

Hate to break it to you guys, but the entire global environment is not in your back yard. Here in central Washington we're in the high '40s, the lake's thawed a month earlier than it generally does, the plants are starting to bud early--basically everything that was predicted. Vancouver's having trouble scraping enough snow for the Olympics.

You'll always find a place that bucks the trend. I knew a guy who had a Bayliner that was a good boat. What does that prove?

Just a reminder to check your antifreeze. Especially older vehicles and campers.

Farmer Almanac is predicting a big storm system 21st of this month.

That is insulting. Not at all what we expect of our neighbors in the North.

You are now on the list of people to ridicule when you start whining about 110 degrees F. You wanna show how tough you are? Spend a summer here without AC.:D

I have spend winters in MN and visited Fairbanks when it was so cold one left a vapor trail just walking down the street. I am no stranger to extreme cold or extreme snowfall in environments equipped to deal with them. That is why I live in Texas.;)

You must think we were born yesterday.

I don't foresee any problems here. We got maybe 3". It's pretty to look at, but that's about it. That's my kind of snow. It'll mostly be melted away by Sunday.

Our department went into work at the normal time this morning but we were free to go at noon to work from home the rest of the day. That's fine with me. Besides, unless I have to put my hands on a piece of hardware, there's really nothing I can't do from home that I could do at work.

The Saints won and Hell freezes over. :D

I'm visiting folks in Baton Rouge, LA. We had approx 1" of snow that vanished within a couple of hours.

I will be braving the cold tommorow at the Spanish-town Mardi Gras parade, i've been informed that being "under" the affluence of incohol is a good shelter from the cold, it is expected to be around 29 deg tonight.
Others say that there ain't nothing that a hot cup of gumbo can't fix. :D
