Hi i have a mercury black max xr2 150 hp, 1986 i think. not too sure on this.
anywho i have got 2 problems at present. 1 the tacho doesnt work. it doesnt move at all. now i have checked the continuity between both yellow terminals and ground and they are fine. i then powered up the ignition and found 12 vdc going through the rectifier? i this normal or would it suggest that the rectifier is buggered. i also noticed that i had continuity between positive terminal and the positive terminal. i was thinking that the rectifier might be buggered but now i am not sure.
and second the battery doesnt charge at all. when the engine running i get normal battery charge of 11.95 volts. what do i need to check to see if the stator or regulator is buggered?
any sggestions would be greatly appreciated.
