I am looking at buying a bimini top for my boat, and looking here at the store there are a few different material to choose from. Which is the best? Can you use while boating or are they just for protection while you are not moving?
Thanks

Sunbrella is probably the best. Mine were always great.

Sunbrella is the most famous, and the most expensive.

The UV rays from the Sun are the killer.
If you slip the boat and it is going to see a lot of weather, Sunbrella's 5-7 year lifespan may mean something.
If you trailer and take it down and keep it covered between outings, even the least expensive will last for many, many years.

Depending on the height and size, a Bimini may be rated for 25mph for a Larger/Taller one, to 45+ mph for a Shorter/Smaller one.
Most will easily withstand tubing, wakeboarding and skiing speeds.

Going wide open in a go-fast? Place it in the Storage Position.
Even if it will take it, you won't like the extra Lift and Drag that the 6 foot Wing/Parachute will add.

I use an acrylic material like sunrella, coast guard or recacryl. If you are looking for somthing more water resistant try sunbrella plus or seamark.I recomend considering making posts to support your framework. You will find a big difference in how rigid your top will be traveling at high speeds.
