Ready to place 2008 236 SSi in water after winter storage. Both batteries dead. Replaced and heard sound from engine. Turns out bilge pump is on (ran down the batteries) and now can only be shut off by disconnecting the battery, Apparently the float switch is stuck on. I tried to get into the engine area but found it impossible (age and other problems). I have contacted a mechanic, but it will be 6 weeks due to high demand this time of year. I have considered using the boat with pump disconnected and always stay within sight of my dock until I can get a mechanic to properly fix. Thoughts/advice appreciated.

Sounds like the float is stuck
Could get another pump and float (or all in one unit) and attach to a piece of aluminum flat stock. Bend the stock so it can be slid under the motor and attached to the stringer. This way it doesn't have to be removed
