Bilge pump

I have a 2005 stingray. The bilge pump is a 500gph one and original. Is there a time period where it is smart to replace these?

if I do is it best to go with a 1000gph one? It’s a 20 ft open bow boat.

I have replaced bilge pumps when they are broken. The age of the pump when that occurs varies, so I don't think there is a predicable lifespan. It is always good to know that your pump is working, so test it often.
