a Little to much celebration last night although Im ok today what are your remedys for a good ol hangover I take afew tylonol drink lots of water and have oj whats yours

This wont help today, Miloman, but it may in the future.<br /><br />A fellow faculty member drank like a fish, yet never suffered aftereffects. When I asked him how he did it he gave me a very technical explanation. The following is very watered down, but contains the crucial facts.<br /><br />A "hangover" is the result of poisoning. The poisons are chemicals produced as alcohol is metabolized by your system. The chemical reactions can be changed by the presence of plain aspirin in your blood. The new chemistry does not produce toxins and you do not suffer the poisoning.<br /><br />Wilhelm Gottschalk, Ph.D (Biochemistry) simply took an aspirin before he retired.<br /><br />His advice has served me and mine well for about 20 years. Not one hangover from several celebrations.<br /><br />Hope that helps in the future.

Hi, Crab-bait.<br /><br />You are right. It should be in your bloodsteam when the alcohol begins to metabolize. Since Doc Gottschalk always and only got blitzed at home, at night, I guess it worked to take it when he did.<br /><br />If I expect to drink a lot, I take one first, then another at bedtime. I rarely drink a lot, and then only at night, at home.<br /><br />Glad you brought it up.

One of the things that helped me alot was to take a B.C. powder when I went to bed, wash it down with an Alka-seltzer on the rocks and drink as much water as I could stand. Then, the next mornin you'll jump out of bed with a great big YC on your chest and feeling like him too. YC standing for Young Champion.

Don't usually drink that much at one time but JB's remidy works wonders. I have tried it in the past but for some reason I did not drink this past New Years Eve. Usually New Years, around Halloween, and the Christmas party for my work are the three big ones for me. I usually drink a few at other times but usually just enough to relax and get a little buzzed but on these 3 occasions I have been known to get a little more than wasted. This year missed 2 out of 3 only getting bad drunk at a Halloween party but the asprin deal worked like a charm.

I just got so tired of feelin that low after a night of over-indulging, that I gave up over-indulging. The last time I drank more than 1 beer in a day was Jan 18th, last year. I got carried-away,as those around me were carried away too. We all ended-up getting "lit". but the asprin trick werks,even if you take one in the after the fact. I take an asprin every day per doctor's orders. At 6pm,after a fantastic day of deep-sea fishing with some fantastic people, I was toast. I came home, took my asprin,cleaned the fish I brought home, and relaxed for the rest of the night. No hangover the next day.<br />And I drank in excess of a 12pack of beer, and am outta practice..

here's a trick if you drink too much and need to be somewhere in the morning-<br /><br />place an aspirin and large glass of water next to your bed. set the alarm for one hour prior to the time you need to really get up. when the alarm goes off, take the aspirin, drink the water, set the alarm again, and fall back to sleep. one hour later, you'll feel much better.<br /><br />btw, a hangover is not caused by poisoning (although the feeling in your stomach probably is). the headache associated with a hangover is caused by blood vessels constricting within your head and neck. alcohol opens them up wide and when you stop drinking, the vessels constrict and cause pain from the slow down of your circulation.<br /><br />man, i know too much about this topic. better get back to the boats where i'm clueless...

Am I the only one that has heard that you risk Liver damage(way in excess of normal etoh induced liver damage)from mixing alcohol(etoh) and acetomenophen (tylenol)??? Drink tons of water prior to retiring and when you wake up in the middle of the night. It's at least partly dehydration or an effect that can be countered by hydration that shrink wraps your brain. BTW, acetomenophen and plain aspirin are different critters.

SCO you are right but plain old Asprin works as dirrected by JB. I am sure it would work after you realize I have had too many but personally I am prepared now when I plan on tieing one on. I know the asprin trick works wonders I have used it. If you also use asprin to get rid of the headache the next morning it works better than anything else.
