I use fire line with floro leader for bobber fishing stealhead/salmon, like JB said ,you can drift that bobber 75yds. and still hookem plus it floats so you can mend your line like flyfishers. Also when it frays it cuts down on your casting distance so you just respool it starting with the used end. Tri-line xt for all other fishing.

Stren MagnaThin for the light stuff (2-6#).
Berkley Fireline for medium/heavy tackle and cover (4-20#).

Both tie very well and easily, very sensitive, and the Fireline doesn't fray line some others.

Re: Best Fishing Line

Ande premium clear is on all of my Lake Michigan line counters. I'd have a hard time switching from this. Stren magna-thin lo-vis green 4#-12# (mainly 6&8) on the spinning reels and a few casters. I have a few casters with spider fusion on them but I'm not well versed with braids and super lines.

I am now a Power Pro believer!!!! The salesman at Bass Pro Shop convinced me to give it a try. Wow am I glad he did. The stuff is so sensitive, I can feel those redfish's whiskers on my shrimp right before they inhale it!!! I'll Never go back to Mono.

In all the tourmaments I fish and all the personal fishing I do I now oly use fluorocarbon I Dont pay for it so what the heck. Although I was convinced to try iron silk for the first time this week and the jury is still out on it but ? there might be application for it

Re: Best Fishing Line

For myself it's 25-30lb P-line CXX blue. Runs about $.07 a yard. It's very strong and has little memory for a mono. I find it's easier to tie knots with than some of the others. If my buddy has a spool of Ande on the boat I'll spool it up with that because free line is always good :D

I like the Stren Clear/Blue fluorescent 14 lb. I like a lighter line, but find the 14 lb test balances casting and strength well. When them large mouths cut and run under a log or behind a stump, you have a beter chance at recovery if the line strenght is higher.

Miloman
I just spooled my baitcaster with 20Lb Ironsilk
Haven't tried it yet so will look forward to your
comments.
I also tied up some anchovie head and spoon leaders (for saltwater salmon fishing, later in the season) using the same line.
Found it kinda slippery to tie knots.

Davie

I use Falcon line, a cheap or should I say ,low cost line, a small local bait shop sells.I've tried many of the so called best lines but keep going back to the Falcon.I fish in a small river full of sunken trees so you usally lose most of your line before you can wear it out.
***********************************************
OMC

for me i use 10# fireline for crankin and carolina rig(leader of yozuri) i use yozuri fluro for everything else.. also glows under black light so line doesn't have to be changed for night fishing

I wish I'd read this thread before I spooled my reel with Spiderwire this past weekend. It broke in random spots several times and not at the knot, either. Once when I had a decent fish on. Very frustrating.

Put some McCoy co-polymer "mean green" on one of my rods this spring to see how it worked. I fished it alot with all kinds of baits. I have to say it has been one of the best all around lines I have ever tried. The green color is just about invisable, its easy to tie, pretty well memory free. This stuff cast like a dream. Needless to say I will be puting this stuff on some other rods.

I put Ironsilk on an ultralight setup for trout. Had stripped it off and replaced it with Berkley XT within 2 hours. It is way too soft for me.

Re: Best Fishing Line

I keep trying different lines, but end up going back to Stren. Blue or gold. For me, best combination of stretch and strength. It's been around so long, I can't believe there aren't better lines out there. But maybe I'm getting too old to change!
