Hi....

I just purchased an 18ft pontoon, but need to make some changes to my dock. We are located in a cove on the southern side of a 1 acre lake with prevailing North wind. I currently have an 18 ft dock that extends straight out from the shore. Would I be better extending this one a few feet or add a 90 degree extension on the shore side (water is 2 ft deep right off the shore)?

Assuming you can dock the boat equally well, either will work fine. I would chose the easiest and least expensive way.

Go with the "mis-direction" and then you can have a protection point should you ever need it. Plus, by turn 90 degrees in either direction, it will seem like you've gained more square footage, in that you'll have multiple access points to the boat.
