+1 from what I noticed this site has more people with a DIY thing going on. I think it would be interesting to see how many people on this site have large boats. Is there anyway we can start a poll?

Yes, you can start a new thread and there is a 'poll' option so folks could choose a size range. I guess the challenge might be to decided on the ranges to choose from . . .

I see the poll option but I can't seam to figure out how to set it up. I think it would be more interesting to do it by boat value. See how many people here have boats 0-5K 5K-10K 10K-20K 20K-30K 30K-50K 50K-80K 80K-110K 110K-150K 150K-200K 200K+

I think that would give us a good idea of how many project boats there are vs turn key boats.

The only one that really stood out was the Jeauneau.

What do you think of the non-convertible hard top for South Florida? That was one reason why I didn't put it top of my list. Also, given the European building of the boat, do you think there will be issues regarding parts and service?

Not as much of a bigger cruiser crowd here, but some folks will have some input.

I tend to agree that the Jeanneau may be a serviceability issue, but they have been selling sailboats in the US for quite a while.

i think your list of boat brands is OK, but you probably will find a bit of difference between the Formula and the Larson in terms of price, components, fit, finish, etc. Since you have been boating for a while, you probably have a better sense of the boat brands than many. So, it is a matter of budget and preferences.

My mistake... I looked back at the Jeauneau Leader 10 and see it is a convertible, but hard to find out pricing information and there seems to be so few used boats in the US (only one in the country that I found online that might just be a left over new 2012).

I love the Leader 10. Everyone has a searay or formula. I do see plenty of Jeanneau on the Chesapeake bay. I would go for the Jeanneau but thats just me. I like the uniqueness of them. I loved my Saab when I had one, everyone has a Merc, BMW, Audi etc. I think the Jeanneau is like the saab of boat in therms of uniqueness.

Before the digs start I know Saab is out of business and I own a Bayliner but if I had the budget for a unique boat I would have gotten one.

The Leader 10 was a new boat for Jenneau in 2011. Thus, not many used ones available. The retractable top can be ordered as a soft or sliding fiberglass varieties.
If you like this style boat, and want to get rid of 2 foot-itis before it sets in, take a look at the Cruiser's yachts 41 Cantius. Wonderful boat.

I loved my Saab
I still have a SAAB. Love it (them). I'd buy another despite them being gone. Great deals on a great car. Sorry for the hijack, but we SAAB guys need to be heard!!! I am as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it any more . . .

I'm unsure how hot it might be with the enclosed pilothouse, but it had the ability to be opened up at the cockpit and a large sunroof on top.

The one I saw was a 36'er (maybe a 10.5 meter?) and it was the first one in the states I believe. It just really stood out verse the typical express cruiser.

Also if you determine how much we paid for our boats with a poll, I would fall into almost the bottom of that list. :D
