bennical mount

Hi , I installed a new bennical mount today. When putting in reverse throttle doesnt move just reverse. Works fine in foward. Is this normal for a bennical mount or did I do something wrong?

Are you sure you don't have the throttle and shift cables reversed at the engine. Disconnect them. Then move the lever. The first cable to move is the shift cable.

the first cable that moves is the shift . then throttle, when going foward. but not reverse. for warm up I press the button on top then the trottle will work in both directions but when handle goes back to detent then in revese only reverese. forward is good . I dont understand. I will tripple check cables tomorrow.

double check where which hole in the binnacle mount that you installed the shift cable connector. It goes in the INSIDE hole, not the outer one. Also look at the cable from the end, it should be parallel to the metal sides of the binnacle if it is positioned on the correct side of the shift lever. You can get a binding condition if on the wrong side.

Most controls don't give much throttle in reverse,but at least some.I think your throttle cable needs adjustment,or maybe it's time to sync/linc your motor.

i bought a 16ft rough neck boat with center console. bought boat without motor because I had a motor. so I had to add all controls and cables. worked on it up in the nights all week after work. I must have been seeing things because I rechecked my bennicle today and its working like its suppose to. thanks for all your advice.
