Re: Bellows Replacement

Well I planned on replacing the water pump impeller so I'll have the lower unit apart anyways. I just keep finding more and more that needs replaced.

So i guess in the that link I would need 26? Is that it, I already have a water pump impeller kit so I should have the seal assy right?

After looking at the prices, I think I would buy a used GPS:facepalm:. Yeah if that is all that is broken, I would make do with #26.;)

Re: Bellows Replacement

After looking around some it seems like engines from my era should have come with the butterfly flapper but I pulled out the other kind from my exhaust bellows. I want to order one but the engines they list it for are much different than mine. I also didn't find the rod that holds it in place, will it be in the lower unit?

Re: Bellows Replacement

I just looked at MercuryParts based on my serial number I should have a butterfly shutter. But that is not what I just pulled out of my exhaust bellows.

Also is there one or two shutters?

Here is a pic of what I just removed. The part number that my serial number says I should order is 807166A 3. They don't look the same.

it superceeds to a new style flapper that has a plastic frame that clips into the holes in the y-pipe

I mean I did see the part number, but it was different than what the mercruiser numbers use. But thanks for the replies. Just didn't make sense to me I guess.

Re: Bellows Replacement

One more question, not done yet. Been very busy and a little under the weather but just about there. My question is how important is the shift cable gimble housing eyelet. Because I forgot to put it on and I'm not removing everything to do it. I can't believe it is super important and I don't remember if I removed one initially or not. Thanks again.
