Ok, I get that these are a bugger to remove to change the bellows. I had the tool, I reefed on it with a breaker bar, and I stripped the splines on the tool..... new one is on the way... However, before I jack another tool up, or worse strip the spline in the pivot bolt, about how much heat is needed for the loctite? (I guess some have it some dont...) If its loctite red, then IIRC its about 350 degrees to melt it. does this seem plausible? Worse come to worst, how much of a PITA is it to drill the heads to get the bellhousing off, and then extract the remains from the gimbal housing?
Outdrive attempting to being worked on is a 1980 vintage (Pre-alpha.... that ought to get some dander up... LOL) MC-1 120hp setup.
