Bayliner floor replacement

I have a 1987 bayliner Capri bought new at the Atlanta boat show 14,600.00 including trailer . Always in covered dock always on lift Great boat all original and still good looking . Do the math on 36 years at 14,600 and what a great bargain. My interior is a 7 but I would like to replace the fold out seats with two modern capt chair type. And replace carpet with that new peel and stick flooring. I am quite handy with all tools and a good carpenter. But sawing up the stuff in a boat is new to me. My question is this a good idea or just enjoy this great boat a few more summers till my boys get off there wallets and spring for a 100,000 plus new boat lol. The floor is not soft .

If the floor isn’t soft then I would be thankful and just keep using it while you can… doing work like that could be a can of worms you aren’t prepared for

I woukd still do some serious testing on the wood structure under that floor. Glass boats start at the very bottom when rot takes hold. No sense doing all that work then have to do it over !!!!
If the floor is not soft, why cut it out ??

I don’t want to cut out the whole floor just the old fold down seat boxes and replace them with captain chairs like a new boat has

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,...... Rip out the seat boxes, 'n leave the deck,..... No problem,......
I believe you'll find the deck is all one piece, with the boxes mounted onto it,....

Without reinforcement under the deck, I wouldn't waste your time

Being a 1987 Bayliner, suggest you check for rot

I would not take on more than you are comfortable with. I would also make sure that the floor can support the captains chairs before you make that leap. I was working on my boat today, A 1988 Baretta and was trying to find the vent tube for the fuel tank since I am having fueling issues when trying to fuel where the fuel wants to come out the fuel cap area when not yet full. I am hoping that the air vent tube is only plugged. The reason I mention this is I found some floor rot on that side of the boat so now I am taking out a section of the floor and side support because it is bad, Fortunately the other side is still solid. So of course I found another issue while trying to fix another. Oh the joys of owning a Boat.
