I have a 2002 Bayliner Capri 2150CT bow rider that could use new carpeting. The floor below is in excellent shape; no soft spots that I know of. I just hate the carpet--it's like blue velcro; everything sticks to it!

I'm planning on leaving the carpet that crawls up the sides as is; just want to replace the flat floor. My questions are: Should I rip up the existing carpet? If I have someone make a "snap in" carpet is it OK to drill holes to install the snaps? Or should I just buy something from Home Depot and glue it down? I think the carpet goes under the seats, should I remove them? Any suggestions on how the handle the ski locker cover?

If anyone has tried this on a similar boat, let me know how it worked out. Thanks in advance, Bob

I did carpet on a Capri 1900 several years ago. I bought mine from a Marine source so it was suitable for wet conditions. I carefully pulled up the old carpet in one piece stopping where the carpet started going up the gunnels. Using the old carpet as a template I cut out the new piece 1 inch or so bigger all around. I went back to the carpet on the gunnels and pulled it up about an inch all around. After getting the new carpet in place I tucked the new piece up under the carpet on the gunnels. Glued it all down with exterior carpet glue applied with a notched trowel. The small overlap was not noticable and made fora nice transition. The ski locker cover was pretty easy. The aluminum frame can come off. Remove it and replace the carpet. Then replace the frame. Looked great and lasted many years until I sold the boat a few years ago. The better grade carpet was a big improvement over the cheap original material.

Have you considered marine vinyl? I love mine. Still stuck with carpet on the side panels but the deck is vinyl. It's super tough and easy to clean. Had mine 7 years and it still looks great

You could install snap in carpet, but you will most likely be very unhappy with it. If your original carpet is glued in place, even if the deck beneath it is finished gel coat, the removal process is probably going to leave glue and stains behind. If it is basically unfinished wood, then you definitely don't want to put snap in on top of that. However, should you decide to order snap in carpet (about the most expensive route you can take), you'll get the finished carpet without snaps installed (though usually supplied). Drill your pilot hole in the floor for each screw, fill with caulk, then install the male side of the snap.
