i haven't been checking the water levels in my battery and i charged it the other day to come home to a burning smell in the garage. popped off the top and there was next to nothing for water in the holes. did i just burn the battery out?

Yep..... You've probably boiled what little acid was in there. That's what you smelled.

Top off all cells and try charging her again, Salmonite. She might recover.

i toped her off last night and it charged! now to full capacity is another story. going to test her over the weekend.

It may be too late and you may already know this, but make sure to use distilled water. Tap water has stuff in it that just doesn't get along with the batt. internals
