Heading out to the Team-Bass national tournament tomorrow on Champlain. Were going to pre-fish Friday, the tourney is Saturday and Sunday. It's going to be cold.

Just got back from Champlain last night. We had two mechanicals, the engine alarm started sounding at quarter to five on Friday. It was too late in the day to get it to a mechanic. I was pretty sure it was the low oil alarm, so I pre-mixed for Saturday. Saturday we ran out to a spot not real far from the ramp and fished the rest of the day on the trolling motor. We caught about 30 bass, but we couldn’t get any weight. Finished Saturday with 5 fish at 10 lbs. Sunday morning I was feeling a little more confident in the motor and I decided to do a little bit more running around to try and find some bigger fish. Then, Sunday at about 10 AM the depth finder went dead, I had a spare with me but I left it in the car. We only had one fish in the live well when it crapped out. I was having a heck of a time trying to locate the deeper weed beds without the depth finder so we stayed shallow. Caught about a dozen fish, but only weighed in 4 for 8 lbs. First, second, and third place were all around 38 lbs for two days. We finished 8 out of thirteen with 18 lbs. This was our first season bass fishing, but I was still hoping to be a little further up in the rankings at the end. There’s always next year.

i hate it when stuff goes wrong i blew my front finder out too.i zeroed this past weekend:%i'll take the camara with me this weekend and see if i can get some good pics.

I've got an ABA tourney this weekend on an all-electric reservoir I've never fished before. I’m tempted to bring my boat, but since I've never fish there before I'll probably go as a co-angler. Most of the guys fishing the tournament will probably know the reservoir like the back of their hands. So I figure I might do better riding shotgun with one of them first time out.

Good luck thats about the best way to learn a lake.i like fishing the back of the boat i can concentrate more except when there flipping then your screwed.good luck hope you catch a bunch!

Tough day, a front came through the night before. Cold and windy all day. Nice day to be riding on the back of the boat. I came in fourth out of eight with a one pounder and a two pounder. I lost a good one mid day that would have put me in second. I only missed second with the two by a half pound. My boat driver won with four fish, 7 lbs. He wasn't real happy to have me aboard that morning but he warmed up pretty quick, good guy, good fisherman.

Thanks Ron, I can't belive the season is almost over. I have one more tourney Saturday and thats it until April. It's going to be a long winter.

im glad i live in the south.were going to fish straight on threw this year im dreading those cold arse days.i guess i'll be learning that float and fly this year.

the last wenesday nighter,and i got spanked not a bass at all:'(one war mouth and that was it.the first time this year i blanked.but theres always next year on that lake.guess its about time to head to the smally water.but i still got a club tourny on the big G,before its time to try the float in fly stuff.

a war moyth is a pan fish very ferouisous fighter its like a cross bettween a bass and crappie.a float and fly is used here for smallmouths when the water turns really cold its a 1/8 on down alot of people use a 32nd weight haif fly and they use 4 to 6lb line up anywere from 4' to 15'they put a little bobber on and fishthe steep banks.you let the fly float all the wat down and then give it a very subtle twitch and let it float back down.man this kind of fishing kills me soslow but it does catch some monster smallies.

As long as it puts fish in the boat. But yeah, I can see how that would take a lot of patients. I have a hard time fishing slow also, but I'm getting used to it. Seems like fishing slow yields the best results. Around here anyway.

I take that back. I took third in the ABA tournament today with a spinnerbait, and my boat driver took first, also with a spinnerbait. I probably spent six hours messing around with Senkos and jigs without a bite. But the spinnerbaits got the job done. That it for the year for me, you take it from here Ron.

im only down to one a month now,but i may pick up some sunday morning tornys,but i dont know yet my knees dont like freeezing weatherd
