Re: Bass Boat - Trim - Planing Problems
Thanks CharlieB.
The carbs are Merccarb WH-27-(1, 2 & 3).
I see hard plastic floats though which aren't supposed to be in this carb.
I pulled off the carbs and dismantled them to a point.
I found that the float on the top starboard carb barrel (the one pouring gas out of it) wouldn't move up & down.
I'm pretty sure that the reason the one barrel was pouring gas out was because the last person who worked on it didn't tighten down the seat all the way. It was loose. I tightened it and now the float moves up and down like the others.
I'm hoping that fixed that problem.
I took the bowls off all 3 carbs and from what I can see, everything looks good.
It's apparent (though not guaranteed) that the carbs were taken apart & cleaned before.
The guy I bought it from said he cleaned the carbs -> but he's a 16 year old kid

)
While I've got the carbs off and dismantled is there any way to test the needles & seats to make sure they're working OK?
I'm really trying to keep costs down.
If total cost >= value of motor then motor is 'totaled'.
Here's a pic of #3 with the bowl off. What do you think?
EDIT: OK, I found gasket kits so I'll be cleaning the carbs as soon as I get them.
I haven't gotten needles & seats. I think (hope) they're OK.
The only gas I saw was from the top starboard barrel which I think I've solved (above).
