first post here, looks like a great forum. so, i bought a 78 glastron hp 154 bass boat, the transom is pretty rotted but seems pretty strong. I was looking it over to try and put together a game plan to remove the top but, it seems "glassed in" all around the back deck. i.e. the back deck has supports going down to the hull etc. I don't see any way to get the top off without doing some serious cutting around live wells/cooler and bench seat.
anyone ever replace a transom core in a bass boat?
Thanks
Rob

if i'm not mistaken, the cooler, storage compartment, console are all part of the upper cap of the boat. it all comes off. did one many, many years ago for my dad. it all came off as one.

Re: bass boat transom

Thank you for the kind welcome and replies,
I think I may take the sea cast route as there is no getting this top off, there are fibreglass walls that go from top to bottom and are glassed into the hull.
Thanks!

Hi HypnoToad,
You'd be surprised. The seam is under the rubrail. The boat is made in two basic pieces - the hull and deck. Your boat's deck incorporates all that rear casting deck stuff. Remove the rubrail and you'll see the seam - remove whatever fasteners and pry it apart. You'll thank yourself in the long run, as you'll likely find other issues that won't be apparent by simply cutting the transom apart...

I know this is old thread, but did this project get done? I have a 1977 glastron just like it that I'm fixing to restore.

I doubt it. That person only had 2 posts in almost 2 years.

Welcome to iboats! You are in the right place for a project. What do you have? You can start an entirely new thread and let this one just die.

Get familiar with the search feature and look up Glastron in the restoration section .....yes we have had many.
