Alright so I picked up an old Banshee that was someone else's project and now it's mine. The PO modded this little monster into a fishing boat. He cut away the upper shell in the front, and put in a forward deck with a swivel seat and what appears to be a live well.
I need to replace the forward deck and convert the live well to storage.... the ply of the deck was rotted completely and they appear to have laminated glass on the underside...the whole front deck was ply with fiber glass applied underneath...not sure why. It would make more sense to me to glass the top fore waterproofing... the way it was done seems to have held the water in the ply and exacerbated the rot.
I'm in the process of gutting the boat and that's fine, but I need to know how to replace the deck properly... Now this is not a long term keeper. I just want to get a couple years out of it so I'm looking for a good fix, not the best.
Can I get by with exterior ply, some stringers (there weren't any in this section), caulk the edges, sealer, and carpet over the top?
I'm working on this and the electrical right now as it was beyond a rats nest of wires and had been exposed to the elements for at a least a year or two.. After that....Transom
No idea if it's gone but there seem to be some big cracks in the glass. I don't mind the work.....I needed a new project
