No worries...I know someone who does a lot of warranty work and he uses white oak for the high hp boats...The multi-directional could work in certain applications, but the weatherproof characters of the glued ply is not as durable and long lasting as the hardwood for below the waterline..
When I replaced my transom the main beam ply was intact but saturated and the corner pieces were badly rotted on the side missing the end cap and the other was beginning to rot...
and the exterior grade ply is $35 here in Ontario and the marine grade is over $100..
But this is a personal preference I believe...sorry if I jacked your thread ctswf...eace:
