I got a service call to one of our stores that a couple of evaporator motors were burned up and not running. Plus there was another store that had one burned out as well. I didn't have any in stock so I called my wholesaler. The had one in stock but had to order two from their Cincinnati store. I picked up the motors yesterday so that I could install them today.

When I picked them up, they were placed in a cardboard box on top of each other. Nothing unusual. I went to the first store that only needed the one installed. No problem, opened the box to find a new motor. Worked fine once installed.

So now, I make my one hour trip to the store that needed two motors installed. I removed both of the burnt motors. Took the first one out and intalled it. Then I opened the last box only to find an old dirty motor that had the plug cut off with spade terminals that someone had installed. AAAAAHHHHHHH. Looked at the box real good and it was packaged like nobody had tampered with it. I then took my hour trip back to my supplier. They exchanged it with no problems. Now, I've got to use up another 2 hours of travel time because some idiot returned a bad motor only to be sold.

I know I should just grin and bear it, but why does people have to do crap like this. It wouldn't be so bad if my days didn't have so many calls to do. Now this just puts me back a bit further. Oh well,,,,,sorry just had to rant a little bit.

Sounds like someone didn't do their job by making sure the right motor was in the box.If that was me someone would have heard about it:mad:,but I am working on that:D

Re: Bad Joke

I've had that happen twice with car parts. Once it was a "remanufactured" CV axle which was filthy and in terrible shape. I caught that one when I got home, and exchanged it the same day. The other was a master cylinder for a Toyota. The person who turned it in as a core had tried to rebuild it first and I guess it failed the bench test. It was clean, and it had all new parts, but it wouldn't pump fluid. Unfortunately, I didn't figure this out until I had bench-bled it, installed it, and bled the entire system. I lost many hours of labor on that one.

No morals for sure. When I was working in a company that sold used computer parts, we started marking the parts going out with clear UV ink. About a third of the returned parts in the next month didn't have our mark on them. We lost a few customers, but gained profit.
