2001 Monterey 248 LS open bow 5.7 GXI Volvo DP 95 Scanned hours.
It can run absolutely STRONG then it will fall off plane and will not take gas.
It Boggs down and will back fire. I pull back and it will not die and will continue to run app 1100-1500rpm...
After a bit of trying to get it on plane all of a sudden it will take off strong.
The fuel pump is making a louder whine sound. Have owned the boat for 2 weeks!
Help!
Fuel Quality, fuel pump, timing advance,
Sensor?
Thanks

Search for fuel pumps on here and you will find loads of posts about paint chips blocking screens and what to do about it.

This is text book of a failure of the low pressure/boost pump. With just the high pressure pump, the engine will start and run and take off strong but will quickly fall on its face. When brought back to idle, the reservoir on the fuel pump will recover but the same thing will happen when you take off again.

Great Thanks! So replacing the HP pump will not fix problem?
I will need the complete fuel supply assembly?
Any info on correct part #’s and where to order on line or should I use a VP dealer?
Thanks again Bpboats

Should I clean the HP screen first?
It is an intermitting issue?
Thanks

If you do not have time to do it properly, just go the Amazon or Ebay and get an aftermarket assembly for $200. to bet back on the water quickly. Then rebuild your existing in the off season.

Thanks! I fairly sure I found the model that goes to the 5.7 GXI-A. It’s the TB not fuel rail.
$350
