Well Nov 7th after each breakfast (cereal and juice) I started getting some pains and thought it was gas. Then 2 hours later I can't get it to ease up and its getting real bad. At 3PM I give in and agree with the Admiral lets go the the ER. Said I have an obstruction at my stomach to small intestine, so the valve is clogged.

So here it is and they removed the NG tube and I get to have liquid diet tonight, Yea. Never had an NG tube and sure hope I never have to get one of those again.

Call the Neurosurgeon office and found out they gave me the wrong instructions. I should have been trying to walk around every day some and slowly get better. All my just setting around added to me getting clogged up, so thanks doc. Should be able to go home tomorrow

In my experience the specialist dusts off their hands when their work is done and passes you off the the nursing staff. Most discharge instructions I've received are boiler plate. I'd guess a nurse fat fingered the wrong recipe. Oops.

Man that is terrible AllDodge. There was a day they wouldn't let you get out of bed for days and now for the same surgery they send you home to fend for yourself the same day.

What do you call the student that came dead last in their Medical School class?...…....................…………….Doctor.

Thank goodness they didn't have to operate on the intestine .... I've been through that mess. And I agree, NG tubes are pretty awful. Sorry AD ... sounds like a real ordeal.

You are going to be OK Dodge. But you sure are keeping those Docs busy, man. I was going to say nothing worse than a twisted up gut. But then I thought of our backs, OK a tie. My pals and I can't have a single conversation now without that conversation quickly going to broken and worn out body parts. Then there is the comparison of meds. Our Poker games now. "I'll raise you your 500MG of Metformin and raise you 10MG of Jardiance!!!!"

I don't consider myself cured! I am very cautious and careful when it comes to my back! Don't like that pain!

Your body strength come from your core, abs, obliques, sternum etc. I say etc. because I can't remember the names. Every muscle from your waist to your chest basically. . To develop and maintain a strong core those muscles attached to the spine in some way need to be exercised. A catch 22 when the back has permanent injury and the medical people say be careful because it is susceptible to more injury. Weak core, weak back, weak back weak core.

What I did after my first go 'round at the "body and fender shop" with my intestines was to start doing every natural and dietary thing I could to make sure I didn't have to deal with docs very often. So far it's working pretty well. Gut seems to be working mostly right.

Agree, talk of old broken bodies is getting more common. Sure hope it was just a combination of things and that I don't have a gut issue to deal with. So far I haven't had to worry about what I eat, old that I shouldn't eat that much.

Was sent home with a a couple prescriptions for my gut hope its just precaution, I like spicy

I know you aren't having a Heat Wave up there! This crappy weather isn't helping. I got to hang some plastic for a make-shift greenhouse before our freeze tonight. Suppose to be 28; 46 now. Stay inside!!

I was actually able to take a bag of garbage out this AM, by myself. Not bad here actually but frost this morning. No wind and with all the leaves on the ground and crisp air and rather low dark Fall cloud cover it sure looks and feels like Football season.

We hit 28 last night and the high should be about 48, going to be 36 tonight

I walked around the property and put some bird seed in the feeder. Going to try and walk around it a couple more time today and ease into it a bit more.

My dog Tigger likes to walk with but she can't hear, so if she gets to smelling something she can get distracted. I have to wait and watch for her to look at me, then give her a hand signal to get her back. Least its next to no traffic and her eye sight is still good

Your 28 is dry; ours is wet It's always cooler in these woods.

AllDodge ..Seven weeks since your last update. ......Improvement?

Yep, doing fine, all for the most part is good. I pickup anything I'm willing to try (still remember I have stuff to make it easier ) and belly is ok, I guess. Think I still have some lingering things which were not there before, but ok. My guess if I see the Gastro person, they will want me to take some kind of pill. No issue with pills, but don't like taking anything for ever

Don't know if this could help, but it's cheap: I was having increasing diverticulitis attacks. Three-four days of Nocor, two antibiotics, and thinking I'd be better off dead.

Then I started taking a heaping teaspoonful of Metamucil/psyllium powder before I hit the rack. Three years now, and all is very well. Only downside is I need to reserve a toilet w/in 15 min of getting up, and occasionally have to double flush an oversize grinder. Still, a great trade-off.

According to all the docs I dealt with way back when, the consensus is that the gut is the laziest system in the body. It doesn't recover fast, so it's not uncommon to have lingering issues while you're working your way back out of it. Not sure if that's gospel truth, but fairly consistent with my experience. (I don't care for pills and prescriptions either)
