Auto light bulbs

What's the difference between an 1157 and a 2057 bulb? They look the same to me.

Magster, I used to work for Ford Parts and the difference as it was explained to me was the the 2057 bulb has a (thicker element/better wire) than the 1157 and thus will last longer. Beyond that they were interchangeable.

If it's a brighter bulb it might = more heat... Might melt something?
