Top off before you launch. You shouldn't need to get fuel prior to getting back to the SR44 ramp. It's only 45 miles round trip from Whitehair Bridge (SR44) to Lake George.

OK, cool where do I get NON-ethanol gas on Sunday, to top off with (it's an 85 gallon tank fyi)?

If I can't get it in the water, then where do I get it on land? Lake Monro Harbor is the WRONG direction. North Causway Marina is also the WRONG direction.

Re: Astor Florida Get Away

I guess you guys are not understanding the issue but thanks for trying. There are plenty of places to get gas. I am trying to get gas ON THE ROUTE between the 44 ramp and Lake George OR between Deltona and the 44 Ramp on Sunday. If I wanted to drive across the state to get gas, I'd just drive over to Lake Monro and fill it up there. The airport suggestion was a good one, they just aren't open on the weekend.

BTW your map is by no way complete. Lots more places to get gas. Be cool if they would update that.

Turns out my wife found a place. The Astor Bridge Marina (SR40@St John's River) has non-ethanol 89 for a bit over $4. a gallon. I should have enough to get that far. I'd rather pay too much than drive 20 miles out of the way to get 10 or 15 gallons of gas.

Does it make sense going into the Winter (in FL so we will still be going out just not as often) to just fill the tank (85 gallons) and drop in a bottle of sta-bil and hope for the best? Will it make a big difference in the amount of condensation inside the plastic gas tank?

Fill the tank and drop in the appropriate amount of Stabil or Seafoam. I keep my boat topped up since we use it year round on the Harris Chain minus a couple of weeks in February.

TD I caught this thread after the fact... we've always wanted to hit Lake George but weekend travel in the past wasn't in the cards. No one showed at Salt Springs??

Re: Astor Florida Get Away

Had a blast at the Silver Glenn yesterday. There were 3 speed boats racing on the River between no wake zones. That was fun to watch. We had it WOT quite a bit which is very close to the speed limit. It was nice running on some water with no chop. I have never driven on a river before. We managed to get some snorkeling in. No alligators. We ate at Castaways, then headed back. Saw a manatee in the speed zone. Don't they know to stay in the no wake area? Lost daylight before getting back. Thank goodness for the GPS/ Depth finder. Just followed the trails and watched the shine on the water, and kept a look out for boat lights. The only ones we found were blue and flashing! A quick look over from his boat and we were on our way. I guess it was obvious we weren't drinking. We all had life jackets on, and we were trying to get back to the ramp before it got any darker. I got the boat on the trailor, just barely. I hate this floating trailer. After pulling it out I tried to crank it just a little tighter (it was at least 4 inches from where it should be) and broke the winch. I think that is the last straw. Going to take the trailer in to the manufacturer and see what can be done.
