I'm looking at a used Avon Typhoon, built in 1987. It is in great shape but the owner told me he had applied Armorall on the boat a few years ago. He only did it one time. I know the silicones in this stuff can be big trouble for an inflatable, but I'm hoping the fact it was only used once several years ago will minimize any issues. Will this prevent successful patching of the boat? Any ideas on how I might clean off any residual Armorall?

Re: Armorall on an Avon

Try bencine, acetone, if nothing happens will need thougher cleaning solvents, R4, acrylic thinner, mek ? Try any of those at a very small boat portion so you'll know when time to patch just need to clean that patching area, no need to clean the whole boat. That 25 year hypalon oldie, it's near it's life span end, check seams just in case, glue is not eternal...

Happy Boating
