Re: Area 51
Area 51 will remain an active base for a long time. they have so much stuff out there, not all of which is "alien" based. i have seen stuff suggesting that in the time Groom Lake has been operational "unofficially" they have expanded its overall size to MASSIVE proportions. none of which is visible as they have been building underground warehouses, manufacturing facilities,
offices, "reverse engineering" facilities dedicated to closely examining anything they get there hands on that they did not build, and so much other stuff that we can really only guess at.
have they used it as suggested above, to develop and build newer, faster, better planes and weapons like the SR-71, without other countries knowing? most definitely. just as other countries are doing right now all over the world in places like Iran and Korea. with global menaces such as those two around, we need a base like Area 51 around, it keeps guys like Kim Jong Il wondering what we have up our sleeve if the doo-doo hits the fan.
however, this is not meant to say that they have not moved some extremely high clearance stuff to the Utah desert or some other place that we have not found out about yet. I live in Utah, i know how easy it would be to hide something in some of the more remote desert mountains and valleys. and with Energy Solutions already here taking in spent nuclear stuff from around the world, it would be easy for the government to have stuff moved into their grounds for storage until they come get it.
the simple fact is, even if we had an open government in which any average joe was able to access any files he wanted, from any agency, there would still be those files that go into the secret file cabinets and stored at NORAD or some other vault far from prying eyes.
as for the alien question, do they exist? i sure hope so. i would hate to find out that in all the galaxies out there, only our little planet has any type of life forms, let alone intelligent beings.
