Are any of these Serial numbers?

[SonicV6]

I am trying to find out what this motor is. It is for sale by someone at work's parent's. They went andread me all the numbers they could find.

Can anyone figure this out for me?

M57566
OR
51030-67

They think it is a 40 or a 50 around 1986

Re: Are any of these Serial numbers?

Nope. It should be on the swivel bracket on a plate or stamped on the starboard side of the engine.

Darn!

Thank you for your help, I guess I will have to make the drive and try and find it myself.

Re: Are any of these Serial numbers?

Should be 7 digits. Some have a letter in front of it as well. Once you get the serial # you can go to http://maxrules.com or http://www.obparts.com/years/mercury.html
to find the year.

Could be a 1978 Mercury.... serial number 5103067 is in that range.

I agree with AMD Rules . 1986 serial numbers begin with "A".
