arced dizzy

put a screwdriver across my dizzy on a early 80's blue band and arced it replaced coils still won't fire up any help thanhs

Mikey, The last Merc with a distributor was a 1979 inline six. It had one coil. Where exactly did the arcing come from? Wires can go bad, but if you have spark, the coil and switchbox are working.
