got a new caltric starter for my aq271. Its smaller but will bolt up but its drive gear has 11 teeth stock unit has 9. Is there an off set to account for this. anyone use one ?
It is compatable and marine rated. Smaller but greater hp than the stock unit. My concern was a greater number of teeth on its drive gear. I contacted Caltric through the Ebay store they have. They got back to me with in an hour and said I would not have a problem to go ahead with the install. It all worked out I restarted a number of times all good. $78 bucks and free shipping. Two days in a box on my steps. All good so far !
