Anyone towing with a 1997~1999 Trooper?

I tow with both a 97 and 99 Trooper 6cyl.

For me, the 99 get 15 MPG without towing.
Towing 3000lb the mpg less but I have never actually calculated it.
Handling is okay. I do wish I had much more horsepower on the highway.

I tow with a '02 Trooper. I have had some issues with the shocks in the rear being to soft for my liking. Solved that problem with a new set of aftermarket shocks and it tows great.

Now I do have the 3.5 motor and I think you have the 3.2. I get about 15mpg around town and about 12-13mpg when towing.

I tow 3600# with a 1998 Trooper and have no problems. Gas mileage combined town/highway without a trailer is about 15 mpg. On the highway I get 17 mpg. I haven't checked what mileage I get when towing the trailer.

I launch my dory right off the sandy beach into the surf, which means driving the Trooper in soft sand in 4WD while towing. I am very impressed with the Trooper. It is a true off-road vehicle.
