I have a 1988 17' Bass Tracker Tournament 17. It has a 45hp Merc and will go about 30mph. This model is rated for a 80hp. I was wondering how fast it will go with a merc 75hp or 80?
Thats pretty underpowered . Actual speed is hard to say , but 40 -45 mph sounds like a good ballpark figure , depending on conditions , cargo , and , passengers .
since I've had this boat I have learned that back in 1988 when someone wanted to buy this boat, the 45hp classic 50 merc was the factory mounted engine. You needed to "upgrade" to get more ponies.
