OK, I've figured-out how it got there, but had major problems with re-install...Seams I no longer have CDs of Winders98 that will work since I "upgraded" my machine---wich I was told came with windows98.Problem is, they don't give you a real CD of windows,just a "recovery disk",which in this situation,is all but useless!<br />Like I said, I figured-out how it got there, but can't get rid of it..It was indead, AOL with it's intrusive application software, that decided I had a network,and chose to "place an application" in at AOL startup. I got smart, and decided to upgrade AOL from version 6 to version 8, in an effort to get around the problem...Big mistake! version 8 caused a fatal exception due to bad page fault when I attempt to use it. needles to say, I'll just upgarde to windowsME and pray.<br />I hate AOL's software,"Realplayer", and all other intrusive applications that the maker insists windows run at startup! It's anoying at minimum, and should be ilegal when all is said and done!

12' Real player is spyware also. It collects information on what you play using it and reports that back to Real Networks affiliates. I won't even install it on my computer.<br /><br />I am glad you found and fixed your problem.

12footer,<br />Have you already upgraded to ME?<br />If not you can try this.<br /><br />1) d/l DUN1.4 so you have a good copy in a known location. Win 98 Dun Upgrade 1.4 <br />2) Uninstall AOL completely "all" versions. Do A wild card search for AOL files also.(*.aol) and delete all.<br />3) Defrag.<br />4) Run the Dun upgrade.<br />5) Reload your communications software (AOL).<br />6) You can selectively control most applications that run at startup thru msconfig.<br />No guarantees but worth a shot.<br />Good luck
