Been here 20yrs.
Probably Tasmania.
Don't let them worry you. Those creatures try hard to keep away from you, and you don't see them too often.
The wife met a red-bellied black snake once at the patio door.....she moved west at about 100mph and the snake east at about 200mph.
When the kid was about 6, the same one (I reckon) chased him across the lawn once....secret is to always wear footwear, and watch where you step. We have the occasional carpet and eastern brown snake wander thru the place but it is never a problem....and very rare.
Spiders.....well the red back is about, and you sure don't want one of those under the dunny seat. We have introduced those asian gekkos, and they have cleaned them all out. Not one web to be seen.
So don't worry about it.

I saw a show on National Geographic channel about nature's deadly creatures and that particular show focused on Australia. The entire country is full of venomous creatures. Seemed like the coastal areas were the worst.

you are correct gonefish
But 90% of Aussies will never see one of those creatures in their life time....that's why they all flock to the zoo's and reptile parks and watch them on the TV.
Once apon a time I lived in the country. Now the town boundary is getting very close. As people move in, wildlife moves out.
And those #@$%^& ***** cats move in too.
I have not seen a Kangaroo bounch over my fence and take a short cut thru my property in probably 10yr.
I am reading a book about USA history at the moment, and the same thing is happening there.
Cheers
